The exit from Burgos, was a little difficult as we lost
our way a couple of times before settling into a good rhythm. We stopped at
Tardajos for breakfast, "tortilla y pan", and bought water and cakes
at the village store.
After some long steady climbs and exhilarating downhills,
we turned off the main road and headed down some beautiful quiet lanes to
Yudego, where we stopped at the fountain to rest and take a few snaps.
We witnessed a strange discussion between a local villager, and someone,
who was seemingly from a water supply company. The villager explained
at great lengths why they had plenty of water continually running from
the fountain when other towns were so short of water that they were depending
upon water tankers to survive.

After a steep climb we arrived at Hontanas, where we
rested and got our credentials stamped. Our route now took us along some beautiful
tree lined lanes, past the "Convento de San Anton" (above) to our
eventual destination, Castrojeriz. We arrived at 1.30, full of hope and cheer
after the disappointments of the day before.
Tomorrow, was to be our planned rest day, and we awaited
a friend from Valladolid to collect us. During the journey to Valladolid we
passed through a tremendous thunder storm, how lucky we were to avoid a good
soaking, but as we had been told several times before, a miracle happens everyday
on the Camino.
